Once upon a time Roadrunner was known as one of the best indie metal labels, they had amazing metal bands like Sepultura, Fear Factory, and Machine Head, (which they still have), and also had alot of great hardcore metal like V.O.D. and Earth Crisis, plus alot of death metal...WTF happened?
First Ross Robinson appears and starts producing alot of the new releases...eventually this gets annoying because all of the bands start to sound the same...like sloppy nu-metal. Soulfly recovered on their 2nd album and I have hope for Machine Head, but what's going on with Roadrunner's newest signings? All of the albums I've been getting to review from them are...well, crap. Sure, all the labels send me stuff I don't like from time to time, plus I'm picky as hell, but I haven't gotten any decent debut album from Roadrunner since Slipknot, (ouch) and that didn't exactly blow my mind either. Everything I've been getting is nu-metal garbage, come on guys, you used to sign killer bands, what happened?
Anyhow, here I get a cd by this band Downer, and the cool Pushead artwork on the cover is misleading because the album SUUUUUUCKS! More nu-metal crap. I can't find even one song on here that I could possibly grow to like.
All I can do is wait for the new Sepultura and Fear Factory...*sigh*
