Well, if you are into progressive power metal, then Empyria is worthy of going out and picking up. These guys have a sound that is a serious love for old school brought up to today's tastes, you know..that dash of intelligence, for demanding listeners. There are some interesting moments floating in and out of each track. You are brought into this grandiose sound scape which rips you away from the mundane. It's all intentional, and its done quite well. Not everyone's cup of tea, but if you're into intelligently written riffage and don't mind shifty vocals, it's worth it alone for the musicianship shown... Prog fans, you'll eat this shit up. Guitarist/Producer Mike Kischnick deserves his own "props" spotlight. Not only does he have some very interesting fingers floating across the frets, (impressive) but a good ear for production values too. I dig it.
