In the world of metal and most forms of music, there is a country that we rarely hear from. Not that they don't have any good music, but it just never seems to reach out to other lands. That country is Japan. Here we have SHADOW, from Japan. If this is an idea of where many Japanese metal bands are going, keep'em coming! SHADOW graduates from the Gottenburg school of Death Metal with a masters degree in riffology. Also setting them apart from most other Death Metal is their female lead singer, T. Shimamoto. Shimamoto growls, roars and screams her way flawlessly throughout their debut. One would hope that singers like her, Angela Gossow of ARCH ENEMY and Rachel of SINISTER will help other women to progress as singers.
Guitar tag team, Yuichi Sumimoto and Shinichiro Okada look primed to rise in the ranks of metal guitar heroes. If and when SHADOW gets more attention from the international press, this album can and will take off. Any doubt will be washed away by 9 tracks of INFLAMES/ARCH ENEMY style Death Metal that melts your brain.
