This is only Mastodon's first full length album and they are already putting other bands to shame. These guys go from straight ahead sheer metal intensity, (ala Lamb Of God) to stoner rock heaven seemlessly while occasionally throwing in something pretty you might expect to hear on an Opeth album. Too good to be true? Shit, you should see them live. "March Of The Fire Ants" lights a fire under your ass from the opening crash, while "Ol'e Nessie" goes in a hazier direction. The vocals all over the album remind me of newer Entombed, ("Wolverine Blues" and beyond). Mmm...good stuff
