This is the 5th album from Sunn O))), (featuring Stephen O'Malley from Khanate and Greg Anderson from Goatsnake), and like those before it, it's dark and pretty messed up. In fact, it's pretty safe to say Sunn O))) are masters of fucked up dark music. The first track, "Hell-O)))-ween" is sloooooow, sludgy, sloooooow, thick, riffy goodness. Did I mention it's slow? This is the shortest track on the album, clocking in at 14:06. Next up we have "bassAliens", which sounds something like a Stephen King acid trip with an early Pink Floyd soundtrack. And finally there's "Decay2 [Nihils' Maw]", the only track with actual 'vocals', and I use that term loosely. This track is particularly badass because it has chanting on it, among other things. Swirling wails, moans, and growls bubble under a sea of trippy bizzare sounds that ride on for a little over 25 minutes. For those seeking the dark side of doom, check out Sunn O))).
